Havana, May 6 (RHC) -– The Cuban Parliament denounced on Monday the continued U.S. media war against the island in a context marked by the use of new information and communication technologies with subversive aims.

During a public hearing, Cuban parliament representative Alberto Nuñez read a statement issued by the Parliament’s International Relations Committee criticizing the U.S. destabilizing actions which have taken place since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

The lawmaker recalled that Washington's anti-Cuba media war included weapons such as Radio Swan, the Voice of America, the so-called Radio and TV Marti, among others.

The deputy said that in this context, the Miami-based mercenary media carried out a defamatory campaign during the trial against Cuban anti-terrorist fighters Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez.

The lawmaker also criticized the U.S. government for having created, through the U.S. Agency for International Development, a communication network called Zunzuneo aimed at influencing Cuban young people with subversive objectives.

This operation confirmed that U.S. anti-Cuba actions aim at the new generations and are marked by the use of new information technologies, Nunez said.

In the face of such destabilization plans, the Cuban Parliament denounced the aggression and thanked other parliaments of the world for their actions against such policies, which violate Cuban sovereignty, U.S. laws and the regulations and standards of the International Telecommunications Union.
