Havana, July 1 (RHC)-- With one case reported during the day on Monday and the closing of the local transmission event in the Havana municipality of La Lisa, Cuba maintains the trend of control of COVID-19.

In view of Cuba's numbers, which continue to be really encouraging -- only 39 confirmed persons and 95% of patients already recovered -- Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz insisted on not letting down our guard with the active investigations in the communities, which have given so much results in the fight against the pandemic.

"Now more than ever, we need systematic and thorough research to detect any problem in time and get ahead of the game," he said.

During the daily analysis of the temporary work group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus -- headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel -- the Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal Miranda, explained that the number of investigations continues to be over three million each day.

Portal Miranda also reported on the decision to close the local transmission event that had been generated in Construction Company No. 4, in the Havana municipality of La Lisa, where no new cases have been detected.  To date, he added, out of a total of 45 events, 44 have been closed.  Only the one in Centro Habana, which includes two popular councils, with a population of more than 56,000 people, remains open.

The minister added that the outbreaks in El Cotorro, in Havana, and El Roble, in Mayabeque, which are very close to each other geographically and therefore related, are currently being monitored.
