In a press release posted on the Cuban Foreign Ministry website, the embassy added that applications for Cuban citizenship and notarial procedures that since August were carried out in person, will have to be made through authorized agencies.

Regarding Cuban citizens stranded in the U.S., the note said the Consular Office has advised them on how to extend their stay or regularize their immigration status, according to U.S. government regulations.

"More than 600 Cubans permanently residing in the national territory have returned to Cuba from in six repatriation flights. For epidemiological reasons in our country, for the time being, this type of operation is not foreseen until further notice. However, we will continue to register the requests submitted to us," the Cuban embassy said.

The release reiterated that Cuban citizens who are about to complete 24 months of uninterrupted stay abroad do not need to request extensions of stay and may remain outside Cuba until further notice, maintaining their Permanent Residents' condition in the national territory.
