Brasilia, January 25 (RHC)-- Brazil's Workers' Party (PT) thanked the Cuban people and government for the attention given to former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during his stay on the Caribbean island.
In a letter addressed to President Miguel Díaz-Canel, to the First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, Army General Raúl Castro, and to other Cuban leaders, the PT especially praised the medical attention given to Lula and to all the delegation that accompanied him, after the positive diagnosis of Covid-19, on December 26'.
The political organization pointed out the exemplary treatment that the former workers' leader was able to count on during his trip and how 'the Cuban public health system once again demonstrated its efficiency.
The document stated that the entire delegation returned to Brazil fully recovered and in a position to continue their activities, 'still restricted in our country due to local health conditions, which are very neglected by our federal government'.
For the PT, the Cuban public health system, its universality and free of charge should be an example for its Brazilian counterpart.
Thanks to highly developed health research, Cuba can develop its vaccines and is now working on one against Covid-19', the letter stated.
The PT congratulated Cuba's government and people for these and other actions and reaffirmed its commitment to 'continue bilateral relations in search of a more humane and egalitarian world.
