Havana, February 20 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero praised the sacrifice of health sector workers during 2020, who had to redouble their efforts to face Covid-19.

During a meeting with executives and specialists of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) to evaluate what was done last year and review the Ministry's priorities and actions for 2021, they also urged to increase the quality of services.

The President stressed that the pandemic demonstrated what the socialist system could do, including establishing national protocols to prevent and control the disease, which led to better results than the world average and several developed countries.

However, he said, we cannot just contemplate what we are proud of, but we must work on the weak points we still have.

The head of State referred among the priorities and challenges that the Public Health Ministry has ahead the control of the epidemic, the implementation of the Ordering Task, the increase of quality in primary and hospital care, and patient care improvement in general.

He also reflected on the accentuated campaign of political and ideological subversion that the country's enemies are promoting in an attempt to provoke a social explosion that may serve as a pretext for foreign intervention, which requires thought, ideas, and ideology.

Díaz-Canel also urged the health workers to put an end to sloppiness and indolence and respond promptly to the population's complaints.

For his part, the prime minister said that in the face of the new outbreak of Covid-19, it is necessary to draw the experience of everything that has been done well and apply it. He added that despite the great limitations of resources, today's problem is the violations and non-compliance with the established protocols
