Cuba Willing to Deepen Bilateral Relations with Iran

Tehran, June 25 (RHC) –- Cuba's First Deputy Foreign Minister Marcelino Medina met on Wednesday in Tehran with local government authorities as part of a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with the Persian nation, according to diplomatic sources.

A press release by the Cuban embassy in the capital Tehran, cited by PL news agency, explained that deputy minister Medina arrived on Tuesday in Iran and he met with deputy foreign minister Morteza Sarmadi to review current bilateral relations.

The Cuban government official is also expected to pay a courtesy visit to Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and during that meeting he will ratify Cuba’s willingness to keep boosting the fruitful diplomatic and political exchange between the two nations.

Marcelino Medina will also meet with Trade, Mining and Industry minister Valiollah Afkhami Rad during a session of the joint intergovernmental commission that will address bilateral economic and commercial links and ways to boost such exchange.

According to the press release, Cuba's first deputy foreign minister will also visit places of historic and cultural interest in Tehran.
