Cuba updates policy for territorial planning and urbanism

Havana, August 25 (RHC)-- Cuba issued the reorganization of the physical planning system and created the National Institute of Territorial Planning and Urbanism, with Decree-Law 42 published in the Official Gazette of the Republic.

The regulation approved by the Council of State says the new entity is an Agency of the Central Administration of the State, with the mission of proposing the Government's policy in this regard.

With the Decree-Law, the Institute of Physical Planning disappears, and the new structure will assume the management of the aspects of design, architecture, cadastre. It will exercise the leading role in the confrontation of illegalities in the area of its jurisdiction.

According to the regulations, the National Institute constitutes an indivisible organic unit with functional independence. Its president is responsible for the direction and regulation of the activity in the island territory.

The decree said that the provincial delegations and municipal directorates are organized vertically throughout the nation and do not depend on local bodies.

The regulation will enter into force 30 days after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic.

This official communication channel also published on Tuesday Decree-Law 43, which states that the Ministry of Higher Education has the mission of proposing to the State and the Government, and once approved, to direct and control the policies related to the integral formation of university students.

It is also responsible for postgraduate education, the preparation, and improvement of cadres and reserves, stimulating the development of science, technology, and innovation in the houses of higher education and affiliated entities, and the extension of their work to the whole society.
