Cuban President meets with members of the Cuban Academy of Sciences

Havana, October 15 (RHC)--  Members of the  Academy of Sciences of Cuba advocated Friday in Havana for speeding up solutions in that sphere with a view to development, in a meeting with President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Gathered at the Palace of the Revolution, the experts raised the need to maintain the integration achieved during the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed the creation of vaccines, medicines, and treatment protocols.

According to the Presidency's website, the exchange is part of the discussions held by the country's top leadership with different sectors of society to seek solutions to the problems jointly.

Díaz-Canel recently awarded the title of Heroes of Work to 10 scientists from the island recognized for their contribution to creating immunogens and vaccine candidates to combat COVID-19.

On Friday, the Cuban President also visited the La Corbata neighborhood in the municipality of Playa. There he evaluated the progress of the transformations taking place in the locality. The Ministry of Tourism is helping residents to repair medical offices, schools, housing, electrical, road, and aqueduct infrastructures.

In  Old Havana, the President also visited the Smart City project led by the Office of the Historian of the City, which has the primary objective of strengthening capacities to provide sustainability to the local heritage.
