Havana, Jan 14 (RHC)--   Cuban Deputy Minister of Public Health, Dr. Regla Angulo Pardo, bade farewell to the first brigade of the Henry Reeve Contingent that will provide medical assistance in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

The health team, composed of 50 nursing graduates from 12 provinces of the country, will join the Cuban collaborators who provide services in that territory and contribute to facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Angulo Pardo, during the ceremony held at the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation (UCCM), expressed to the collaborators that the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and his government are very anxious with the help, with their support, to reduce the incidence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, increased due to the omicron variant.

Dr. Michael Cabrera Laza, the UCCM's director, pointed out that combating the pandemic has been a complex task. Cuban health professionals have shown the world the value of medicine on this small island that has been blockaded, besieged, and slandered by the enemies of the Revolution.

He also added that thousands of people had raised their voices to recognize the professionalism and robustness of the Cuban health system, and more and more people would like to be treated by a doctor, a nursing graduate, or a health technologist from the Antillean nation.

Since 2020, some  4,700 Cuban health workers have faced SARS-CoV-2 in countries worldwide.
