Havana, January 29 (RHC)-- Members of the European Parliament denounced the impact of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, and its extraterritorial scope, after a delegation of the Left Group of that body faced obstacles to travel to the island.

In a letter to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, eleven MEPs pointed out that the travel agency, the official service provider to the European Parliament, refused to sell them tickets for the trip.

The refusal occurred because the entity belongs to a U.S. company. They stressed that this action shows one more facet of the criminal blockade, an unacceptable coercive measure against a sovereign State.

The delegation of the Left Group will visit Cuba from the 31st of this month to February 5 to evaluate the harmful consequences of the blockade.
