Havana, May 19 (RHC)-- Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca invited the Caribbean and African diplomats accredited in Havana to the 17th ExpoCaribe 2022 International Fair, scheduled for June 23-26 in Santiago de Cuba.

In a meeting with ambassadors from these two regions, he commented that the event would bring together companies and other actors to promote foreign trade and investment in this geographic area, emphasizing the biotechnology industry.

The event, held at the Heredia Cultural Complex in the Eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of solidarity and cooperation relations between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Cuba.

In addition, it will be a space to thank the nations of that community for sending donations to alleviate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the African countries with whom Cuba maintains a brotherly relationship, Malmierca said.

The minister added that the event seeks to strengthen economic and trade relations with CARICOM and the Greater Caribbean, foster ties with African countries, promote Cuban export of products and services, and seek joint businesses.

On the other hand, it will allow access to information on commercial products from our closest neighbors and promote exchanges with counterparts in sectors of the Cuban economy, he added.

To this end, there is a group of conferences on the general situation of the Cuban economy, the historical ties with CARICOM, and the exportable supply of goods and services of the island, given by the Ministries of Economy and Planning Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, respectively.

The program also includes panels on foreign investment in the eastern region, new economic actors in the country, production and export of medicines and vaccines, multi-destination tourism among countries of the Greater Caribbean, agriculture, and climate change, among other topics.
