Geneva, July 23 (RHC) – At the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Cuba energetically condemned Israeli military aggressions in the Gaza Strip that have killed more than 600 people, and called to stop the killing of innocent civilians.
“This offensive against one of the most populated areas of the region is unacceptable and a violation of international law, including humanitarian law,” stated Cuban interim charge d'affairs at international bodies in Geneva, Nancy Madrigal.
Speaking at a special session of the Council devoted to the situation in Gaza, the Cuban diplomat denounced the worsening of the crisis in the Palestinian territories.
Madrigal lamented that despite many reports, resolutions, and debates, the problems in the Palestinian territories, far from reaching a resolution, worsen and the suffering of the people multiplies.
During the Council's special session, many speakers condemned the air, sea and land attacks carried out by Israel as well as Hamas rocket launchings against civilian areas in southern and central Israel.
The special meeting was convened by Arab members of the Council and the Islamic Cooperation Organization.
