Ha
vana, August 24 (RHC)-- The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) denounced the persecution campaigns by the United States against the Cuba Solidarity Committee in Puerto Rico and the members of the 31st Puerto Rican Brigade 'Juan Rius Rivera.'
In a statement, ICAP said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) subjected the brigaders to investigations, intimidating acts, and phone calls about their solidarity activities.
The Institute called on the international community to support and disseminate the messages of support for the Juan Ruis Rivera Brigade, issued by the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network and its member associations.
The statement emphasized the need to "denounce this outrage, which violates the most human elements and is also an act against the Cuban Revolution, to unmask the true intentions of this new and aggressive campaign".
In addition, it states that the U.S. administration should be demanded to implement Resolution 1514 (XV) of the United Nations to end 124 years of colonialism in Puerto Rico, "disguised as a Commonwealth".
The document noted that the brigadistas visited the island last July, in which they carried out an exchange program with Cuban inhabitants, a symbol of the brotherhood between the two countries.
