Conference at Convention on Post-Covid-19 Health in Cuba and its challenges

Havana, Oct 18 (RHC) The current challenges of the health system in the post-Covid-19 context will be the focus of attention on the second day of the Cuba Health 2022 Convention, attended by specialists from 63 nations.

 

Led by the Cuban Minister of Public Health José Ángel Portal, the conference opens the theoretical part of the event, which includes more than 30 panels, symposiums, and round tables, among other modalities.

 

The director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa Etienne, one of the event's special guests, will participate in a panel on health policies to respond to the 2030 Health Agenda in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Etienne will then close an event dedicated to 120 years of PAHO in Cuba, in which Cuban scientist Agustín Lage will speak on Science and its role in the future of public health.

 

His colleague Salvador Tamayo will address in the same panel the topic of Challenges of non-communicable diseases and population aging in Cuba.

 

The VII Congress on Hygiene and Epidemiology, IV Symposium on Maternal and Child Health in the 2030 Agenda, as well as the one on communicable diseases, are on the program of the mega-event, which runs until the 21st.

 

In addition, the VIII International Workshop on Clinical Trials and the I Symposium on Primary Health Care and Family Medicine are just some of the events to be held during the day.

 

At the opening of the event, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel defended the thesis that government management must be based on the science and innovation system to achieve sustainable development in the Caribbean nation.

 

He also explained the need for a stronger interconnection in the universe of science, technology, and innovation, hence the need for new forms of management that transform that scenario and contribute to the economy, society, and sovereignty, said the head of state in the capital's Palacio de Convenciones.

 

The Convention, which is being attended by fifty ministers and delegations from around the world, is being held in parallel to a trade fair, where 191 exhibitors, 130 delegates from 24 countries, 28 markets, and 55 foreign companies are present. (Source: PL)
