Havana, Oct 26 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated Rebel Army Commander José Ramón Machado Ventura on the occasion of his 92nd birthday.
On his Twitter account, the president described the revolutionary politician and doctor as a tireless revolutionary, always in the vanguard.
Also, the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Roberto Morales congratulated Machado Ventura and highlighted his example and teachings.
Machado Ventura stood out in the struggle against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1959), and after the triumph of the Revolution, he held several positions in the Cuban government until he was elected first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, in 2008.
From 2011 to 2021, he served as the second secretary of the Communist Party and was elected deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament) on April 18, 2018.
Throughout his career, he received numerous state decorations, including the Honorary Title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba and the Order of Playa Girón. (Source: PL)
