Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected the extension of the European Union's unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela.

Havana, Nov 14 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected the extension of the European Union's unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela.

In his Twitter profile, the foreign minister considered that these actions harm the welfare of the Venezuelan people and are contrary to international law.

This weekend, the European Union extended the actions against the Bolivarian Republic imposed in 2017. According to Caracas, this constitutes an unfortunate decision when the Government and the opposition are advancing in negotiations.

A statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry released this weekend pointed out that Europe insists on a completely wrong strategy that has failed, in the last five years, to achieve its goal of overthrowing the Government.

The document added that it is an unhealthy policy of resorting to tools of political blackmail, contrary to the principles of democracy and human rights, and it is a dangerous practice contrary to the principles of international law and peaceful coexistence between States.

The restrictions imposed by Brussels on Venezuela include the embargo of products, the prohibition of entry to the Union of government officials, and the freezing of assets. (Source: PL)
