South African President Cyril Ramaphosa
Havana, Dec 16 (RHC) South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, at the head of the African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg, expressed his people's deep gratitude to Cuba for its support in the struggle against apartheid.
During the opening speech of the 55th ANC National Conference, he highlighted how Cuba sent doctors to the country at the worst moment of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also stressed the importance of collaboration with the Island for the development of South Africa.
Ramaphosa reiterated his government's unrestricted support to the Cuban people against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
At the same time, he called for an end to this criminal policy, the attempts to isolate the island, and as well as to end all the sanctions that are maintained against it.
Presenting the inaugural political report of the event, he urged unity and renewal in the ranks of the organization. He recalled that this issue calls for pursuing with greater vigor the reconstruction and renewal of the African National Congress to advance in the fundamental transformations of the economy and society.
