Cuba's permanent representative to the UN, Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta

Damascus, Jan 20 (RHC) The main Syrian media highlighted Friday Cuba's support, before the United Nations (UN), for Damascus' right to recover the Golan, occupied by Israel since 1967.

Cuba demands total and unconditional withdrawal of Israel from the Syrian Golan and all occupied Arab territories, was the title of the news published today on the front pages of the official news agency SANA, the national television channels Al-Suriya and Al-Ikhbariya, as well as the newspapers al-Watan, Tishreen and Thawra.

They also broadcast fragments of the intervention of Cuba's permanent representative to the UN, Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, during an open debate of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East.

According to the media, the diplomat called for the immediate and unconditional cessation of the arbitrary and illegal coercive measures imposed by the United States against sovereign states in the Middle East.

He also urged the international community to work to end the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and support the right of Palestinians to establish an independent and sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital. (Source: PL)
