Buenos Aires, August 19 (RHC) -- The National University of Lanús in Buenos Aires will confer the title of 'Doctor Honoris Causa', an honorary doctorate, to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

The ceremony, which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, marks the end of a series of activities which have held in Argentina since last week to honor the revolutionary leader on his 88th birthday.

An invitation to attend the ceremony, which was circulated by social networks, said that “the Superior Council of the National University of Lanús appointed Commander Fidel Castro Ruz as Doctor Honoris Causa of this house of higher learning.”

In another activity, the Argentinian Communist Party and it's youth organization inaugurated the photographic exhibition “Fidel, una historia, cino miradas” ('Fidel, One Story, Five Views') in Buenos Aires.

The exhibition shows, chronologically, aspects of the life and work of the tireless Cuban fighter through images taken by five photographers, one of whom is his son, Alejandro Castro.

Last week, members of various solidarity groups met at the House of Friendship with Cuba in Buenos Aires to celebrate the 88th birthday of the revolutionary leader and re-affirm their continued support of the cause of the Cuban people.

They also reiterated the need to intensify the fight for the release of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, three of the five Cuban anti-terrorists who are still imprisoned in the United States after nearly 16 years. René González and Fernando González, the other two of the Cuban Five, are now in Cuba having served their sentences in full.
