Havana, Mar 7 (RHC) The vice president of Cuba's National Electoral Council (CEN), Tomás Amarán reported that 13,616 young people in the country will vote for the first time in the national elections of March 26.

 

In statements to Juventud Rebelde newspaper, Amarán detailed that the new voters are 16 years old, the age established by Cuban Electoral Law to exercise the right to vote.

 

He highlighted the responsibility of the National Electoral Council to ensure that the new generations know and join the electoral process with full awareness of their right and privilege of being part of the participatory democracy.

 

The vice president of the National Electoral Council pointed out that, as part of the "house to house" visits for the revision of the voter lists, they have stopped at the homes of young people who will be participating for the first time in this process to explain the process of Cuban elections.

 

In this regard, they have established alliances with the Ministry of Education, mass organizations, and other sectors of society so that the new generations accompany the elections with their presence, commitment, and enthusiasm, he said. (Source: Prensa Latina)
