Belgian project of solidarity with Cuba outlines new actions
Havana, April 22 (RHC) - The Belgian association Cuba Soberana is preparing new solidarity actions with the island after filling a container with medical equipment and other donations at the beginning of the month.
Reinaldo Romero, a Cuban resident in Belgium and the coordinator of the project, specified that for the rest of the year the initiative plans to make small shipments and create the conditions to dispatch a fifth container in 2024, after the three shipped in 2021 and the one expected to arrive to Cuba in the first fortnight of May.
According to Romero, the work in progress consists of looking for new partners and contacts to access equipment and other inputs in fields such as health and sports, and planning cultural activities for fundraising. He added that the organization is open to coordination with other associations.
In this sense, he stated that Cuba Soberana aims at diversifying shipments, until now mainly focused on resources for medical care. According to Romero, the container filled two weeks ago included, in addition to health, sports equipment for volleyball, basketball, badminton and boxing, toys and materials for children's circles.
