Cuba celebrates Father's Day
Havana, Jun 18 (RHC) Cuba celebrates Father's Day, a date commemorated every third Sunday of June to reciprocate the affection and dedication of children for their parents.
The first commemoration of the date on the island took place on June 19, 1938, at the initiative of writer and artist Dulce María Borrero, who advocated the generalization of the tribute.
The social expression of the anniversary goes beyond family reunions and gifts, although much remains to be done to transform the exercise of fatherhood in the Caribbean nation.
An article on the Cubadebate website points out that the first urgent steps involve generating more training spaces for parents and dismantling all those prejudices that still prevail in hospitals, schools, and other institutions linked to the care and upbringing of children.(Source: Prensa Latina)
