Cuba expressed solidarity with South Africa after accident
Havana, Aug 31 (RHC) Cuba expressed its solidarity and grief to the people and Government of South Africa for the loss of life caused by an accident in that country.
This was stated on the social network X, formerly Twitter, by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, who sent condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The fire broke out early this Thursday in a five-story apartment building in Johannesburg, South Africa, causing 43 injuries and 73 deaths so far.
According to Mgcini Tshwaku, head of the city's Public Security, there was apparently a door that was closed and prevented the occupants from leaving, since many of the victims were found before that door.
The main reason for the high death toll, the official said, is that there were many internal partitions and doors on various levels of the structure.
At the moment the exact causes of the accident are unknown. (Source: PL)
