Ban Ki-moon Calls Raul Castro and Requests Assistance to Stop Ebola

Havana, September 11 (RHC) -– UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon telephoned several world leaders over the last few hours to request help for African nations hit by the Ebola fever virus.
 
The head of the United Nations spoke, among others, with Cuban President Raul Castro; U.S. President Barack Obama; and the President of France, François Hollande; as well as with British Prime Minister David Cameron; the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy; and the President of Doctors without Borders, Joanne Liu.
 
The UN secretary general has publicly warned about the need of taking urgent measures to stop the disease in the region and prevent its expansion on an international level.
