Holguin, October 21 (RHC) --The need to generalize the good experiences that currently exist in the province of Holguin in food production and other areas was highlighted by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and high-ranking officials of his government.

The president concluded a governmental visit to that eastern territory, accompanied by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Vice President of the Republic Salvador Valdés, as well as deputy prime ministers and heads of various portfolios.

During two days, working commissions were deployed to visit some 200 economic and social objectives and talked with more than 600 inhabitants of the province with the food issue and local development in the focus of the governmental delegation.

The head of state checked the potentialities in each place to effectively address the priority given to food production, which demands an adequate implementation of the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security Law.

"The food sovereignty plan must be at the territory level, as we appreciate in the municipality of Cacacún; in each place must be known the agricultural lines that will be produced and where they will be marketed to satisfy in the shortest possible time the demands of the population," he said.

As part of his tours, the President of the Republic, accompanied by the Minister of Construction, René Mesa, went to the socialist state enterprise for the production of construction materials, Médano.

There, the director of the manufacturing entity, Yunior Pupo, presented the main results of the entity in a range of productions among which stand out stones, sand, blocks and floor elements, and household utensils of high popular demand.

Médano develops multiple projects in a systematic link with the local university and maintains productive chains with other state and private entities, which has a favorable impact on the workers' salaries, explained Pupo.

The businessman emphasized to the Cuban head of state that the company fulfills its responsibilities with the community where it is located, builds housing for its workers and implements projects that promote the program for the Advancement of Women.

Díaz-Canel also toured the Turquino Basic Business Unit (UEB) of the canned food company in this province, where he learned about the linkage of the entity with fruit and vegetable producers and the company's ties with other mini-industries in the region.

This commercial deployment allows UEB to diversify its production, with emphasis on guava pulp, explained the president in the presence of the head of the food industry, Manuel Sobrino.

The Cuban president acknowledged the entity's results and called on its directors to modernize the plant as much as possible. Based on the entities visited, Díaz-Canel urged to generalize the best experiences in the economic management of this province. (Source:PL)
