Santiago de Chile, November 6 (RHC) -- The top leaders of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh) hailed the approval by an overwhelming majority at the United Nations of a resolution rejecting the blockade maintained by the United States against Cuba.

This is a great political and moral victory for the Cuban Revolution, which achieves the almost unanimous support of the international community, the president of the PCCh, Lautaro Carmona, declared to Prensa Latina.

The text was adopted by the UN General Assembly by 187 votes in favor, two against (United States and Israel) and one abstention (Ukraine).

Carmona also valued the request made by the Chilean President, Gabriel Boric, to his US counterpart, Joe Biden, to remove sanctions against the Caribbean country and exclude it from the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

The president of the CCP sent his greetings to the Cuban people and government and expressed his eternal gratitude for the island's solidarity with Chile.

The secretary general of the political organization, Bárbara Figueroa, highlighted the support for the thirty-first time to the resolution presented by Cuba in the UN.

One would hope that these resolutions that year after year are approved in the United Nations have a binding character, as well as those approved in the multilateral organization on Palestine, she said.

The mayor of the commune of Recoleta and leader of the CCP, Daniel Jadue, recalled that the two countries that voted against, the United States and Israel, are responsible for the greatest genocide the world has ever known in occupied Palestine.

The blockade of Cuba is a crime against humanity and should be prosecuted in international courts, he said. (Source:PL)
