Geneva, December 13 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ines Maria Chapman denounced Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland, that the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States is a flagrant, massive and systematic violation of the human rights of the Cuban people.

During her speech at the high-level event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Chapman said that in the current scenario of world crisis, the difficulties in her country are multiplying due to the criminal and illegal U.S. blockade.

The Cuban Deputy Prime Minister said in X that during her speech at the event she also expressed her rejection of the current international economic order because it is unjust, exclusive and unsustainable.

"It cannot guarantee the full enjoyment of all human rights for all people," she argued.

Chapman heads the Cuban delegation at the meeting, which concluded Tuesday and is organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The meeting included four thematic roundtables and two sessions in which Member States presented their commitments to continue promoting and protecting human rights.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris in 1948, celebrated its 75th anniversary on 10 December.

This document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone has as a human being, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.  (Source: ACN)
