Prensa Latina agency will host the New Operation Truth forum
Havana, January 6 (RHC) The New Operation Truth Forum will take place from January 20 to 24, convened by the Latin American Information Agency Prensa Latina.
Dozens of information ministers, media executives, journalists and other personalities will meet in Havana within the framework of the forum, which will be an opportunity to discuss the challenges of communication in current times and the construction of a New International Information Order.
The meeting will also serve to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the original Operation Truth, called by historical leader Fidel Castro to denounce hostile campaigns against the nascent Cuban Revolution.
Considered then the largest press conference in the world, that 1959 event brought together more than 400 foreign journalists in Havana, who were able to personally verify the reality of the Cuban political process, object of enormous smear campaigns from the United States.
This massive meeting also highlighted the need for Latin America and the Caribbean to have their own voice in an information scenario dominated by large foreign journalistic monopolies, and led to the creation, five months later, of Prensa Latina.
Recognized worldwide by its acronym PL, the agency continues to be considered a true school for journalists. (Fuente: PL)
