Cuba celebrates the anniversary of the Community of Caribbean States

 

Havana, July 4 (RHC) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations has released a congratulatory message through its official account on X, on the occasion of today's celebration of the 51st anniversary of the creation of the Community of Caribbean States (Caricom).

 

The message, accompanied by the hashtag #CaribeUnido, assures that the occasion is "an opportune moment to reaffirm solidarity and maintain the spirit of unity and brotherhood among our Caribbean nations."

 

Founded in 1973 to replace the Caribbean Free Trade Association, established in 1965, Caricom aims to strengthen relations in the Caribbean.

 

Based in Georgetown, Guyana tt is made up of 15 nations, most of them English-speaking, while Aruba, Colombia, Curacao, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Sint Maarten and Venezuela participate in the group's dynamics as observers.

 

Cuba and Caricom maintain a relationship of solidarity and cooperation, especially in the development of human capacities, the provision of health services and cooperation in disaster situations. (Source: PL)
