National Bank of Cuba reaffirms willingness to dialogue
Havana, 24 July (RHC) The National Bank of Cuba (BNC) today reaffirmed its permanent willingness to dialogue and respect the debts contracted with legitimate creditors, according to an official note.
In this regard, Granma newspaper published in its Wednesday edition a message from the island's financial authorities in which it reiterates this disposition, stressing that such criterion has no relation whatsoever with any entity outside its financial instruments, as is the case of CRF I Limited.
This comes at a time when the London Court of Appeal will hold a hearing on July 24, 2024 to hear the claim.
The message indicates that on April 4, 2023, the High Court of England and Wales issued a decision stating that it should analyze whether or not the vulture fund CRF I Limited is a creditor of BNC; such decision was appealed by the Cuban financial entity and granted by the court of higher instance.
In response, the London Court of Appeal will hold a hearing today to hear the claim.
From the beginning of the process, which the vulture fund has brought before the English courts to claim a right it does not have, the BNC has maintained that this economic entity is not its creditor and therefore there is no reason to support such a position.
The National Bank of Cuba reaffirms once again, its permanent will of dialogue and respect towards the debts contracted with legitimate creditors; which has no relationship whatsoever with any entity outside its financial instruments, as is the case of CRF I Limited, insists the publication.
