Cuban provinces return to normal after hurricane Oscar
Havana, Oct 21 (RHC) The General Staff of the Civil Defense of Cuba decided to move back to normal operations from 13:00 local time in the provinces of Camagüey (east) and Ciego de Ávila (center).
The decision was made based on information from the forecasting center of the Institute of Meteorology regarding the evolution of weather conditions.
In its information note, the Civil Defense acknowledged the efforts of management bodies and the compliance of the population with the measures implemented during preparation.
According to the latest notification from the Institute of Meteorology, Hurricane Oscar continued to weaken after making landfall in Guantánamo Bay yesterday as a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, then downgraded to a tropical storm.
Due to its slow motion across the east of Cuba, heavy rainfall continues in that area, with heavy precipitation in the province of Guantánamo and the easternmost province of Holguín. (Source: Prensa Latina)
