Havana, December 31 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has affirmed that innovation is the path to national development and exemplified with the workforce of the capital's orthopedic hospital 'Fructuoso Rodríguez'.

The president wrote on his X account that "innovation is the way, and many groups are demonstrating it." It is the case of the Fructuoso Rodríguez orthopedic hospital, which, under the guidance of the respected Dr. (Roberto José) Balmaseda, is experiencing a revolution in medical services and care for patients and their families.

"Being there at the end of such a difficult year for Cuba renews all the strength of 'Yes, we can!'" emphasized the head of state on that social network.

Press outlets recently revealed the performance of partial hip prostheses at that healthcare center, considered another success of science that grants sovereignty to the island's medical practice.

The innovative surgical procedure gradually addresses the demand for hip prostheses, a sensitive issue especially for elderly patients.   Thus, multiple innovations come together there at 'Fructuoso Rodríguez' to improve the quality of life for those in need.

In another context, Díaz-Canel insisted on the matter during his recent participation in the Council of Ministers, where he urged the promotion of the use of science, innovation, and technology in the nation's development plans, with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence.
