Havana, April 19 (RHC)-- Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, congratulated the Namibian party, the Southwest Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), on its 65th anniversary this Saturday and reaffirmed his intention to deepen relations between the two governments.
On his X account, the president reiterated his congratulations to this organization, which has long fought for the well-being of its people and Africa. He stated: "We reaffirm our commitment to deepen the already excellent ties between our Parties and governments, based on the historic bonds of friendship that unite us and the legacy of our leaders, Fidel and Sam Nujoma," the head of state concluded.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, also commemorated the 65th anniversary of SWAPO today.
On his X account, Morales Ojeda expressed: "On the 65th anniversary of SWAPO, an organization to which we share historic ties of brotherhood and solidarity, we extend special congratulations to the Party and its members."
We reiterate our firm commitment to continue strengthening these excellent ties, he noted.
SWAPO is a Namibian party founded on April 19, 1960, with the purpose of representing the African people and fighting to achieve sovereignty and resolve the nation's problems in order to advance toward a better future.
This organization maintains a fraternal relationship with Cuba, reflected in the friendship between Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and former Namibian President Sam Nujoma, two world-renowned leaders.
The South West Africa People's Organization has always shown its solidarity with the island and has repeatedly denounced the unjust economic and commercial embargo imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba.
