Havana, December 25 (RHC-teleSUR) -- The Cuban and Russian governments signed a new agreement Tuesday which will promote the exchange of legal professionals between the two nations.

“We expect this agreement to improve the Attorney's Office's work both in Cuba as in Russia,” explained Cuban Attorney General Dario Delgado.

The agreement includes the organization of two seminars on information technology, penal law, and procedural law. It also includes a range of agreements which will help improve the practices of legal professionals in both countries.

“We will work toward improving the formation of public attorneys both Cuban and Russian, not only by offering seminars but also by providing information and experience exchanges,” said Delgado.

The agreement is an update of a similar one previously signed by both countries in October 2011 and will be valid throughout 2015 and 2016. It is also part of the ongoing Russian-Cuban cooperation agreement, which has strengthened continuously since April.

In July, Cuban President Raul Castro visited Moscow and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both leaders signed a series of cooperation agreements which include the creation of a special economic zone in Port Mariel, Cuba, and the development of Cuban oil fields.
