Camagüey, February 4 (RHC-acn) -- PESCACAM fish farming company, which operates in Camagüey reservoirs, started 2015 with a positive result in January, capturing 400 tons of different species of freshwater fish -- the fourth time in three decades it has reached such figures in the first month of the year.

This occurred despite the fact that in the first and final months of the year cold water temperatures and winds are not the most favorable for fishing, which varies on average between 100-200 tons, according to Jesus García Collazo, director of the company.

That level of fishing is included in the program of 2015, when PESCACAM, the company with the highest catches in Cuba, plans to capture nearly 4,900 tons.

In the last two years, the company, which is engaged in the extraction of biomass from reservoirs and its industrial processing in three factories, has exceeded five thousand tons.

In addition to allocating part of its production to internationally market the HG tench (without head and gutted), PESCACAM increased to 33 the assortment of foods that is produced, some targeted for sale to hotels and hard currency stores.

But most of this production goes to the network of fish shops in the province, with an increase in the frequency and quantity of supply. Twenty fish shops operate in the province, many of them in Camagüey.
