Guantanamo, May 21 (RHC)-- Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel called for a greater use of modern technologies for the development of the country.

During a visit to the eastern province of Guantanamo, Diaz-Canel said that the expansion of modern technologies in Cuban society is a priority for the country given current demographic characteristics and the world scenario.

He referred to the urgent automation of production processes to achieve the rational use of available labor, bearing in mind the progressive aging of the Cuban population.

The first vice president met with professors at the University of Guantanamo to analyze the integration process underway in three higher education institutions and stressed the need to strengthen communications strategies between entities and the media in order to generate attractive contents based on the history and reality of the Cuban nation.

“We have to concentrate on two main aspects; one is dismounting the capitalist neo-liberal platform through effective ways and mirror the everyday life of the Cuban people.”

Diaz-Canel also toured places of economic and social interest in Guantanamo, accompanied by local government and party leaders.
