Havana, November 3 (RHC)-- The U.S.-Cuba Business Council is holding sessions in Havana with the participation of more than 50 U.S. business executives, Cuban entrepreneurs and officials. Participants agreed Monday that Washington's over 50 year-long blockade policy towards Cuba is the main obstacle to bilateral trade and economic exchanges.
In the framework of the council sessions, Cuban Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca met with Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President and Head of International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The two government officials talked about Cuba's economic prospects and the negative impact of the U.S. blockade.
In his opening remarks, Cuban Chamber of Commerce President Orlando Hernández pointed to the investment and trade opportunities for U.S. companies in Cuba once the blockade is finally lifted.
The U.S.-Cuba Business Council was inaugurated on September 25th at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters, in Washington D.C. The body aims to foment a strategic trade relationship between the two countries, establish business sector ties and promote the identification of business opportunities for both nations, according to the Cuban Embassy in Washington’s website.
