Havana, February 12 (RHC)-- Media outlets around the world are dedicating front-page articles to the Havana meeting on Friday of the heads of the Catholic and Russian Orthodox churches, Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill.
During the three-hour private meeting, Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill discussed relations between the Catholic and Orthodox churches in today's world, and the defense of Christians in the Middle East and Northern Africa against persecution and genocide.
At the end of the meeting, both religious leaders are to issue a joint declaration, the first since what is known as the East-West Schism or Great Schism of 1054.
