Havana, September 13 (RHC)-- The latest research results and best practices in caring for patients with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) will focus debates at the 5th Conference of the International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organization, set for November 13th through the 17th at Cojimar Convention Center, in Havana.

The conference will gather doctors, researchers, caregivers, patients and families, in order to share and learn about the treatment and management of that genetic disorder.

Caused by the lack of a gene on chromosome 15, experts refer that PWS is a rare condition, which leads to various physical, mental, and emotional problems, including decreased muscle strength, low levels of sex hormones and intense anxiety about food.

The International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organization and the Cuban Society of Human Genetics are hosting the scientific event, focusing on immunogenomics, genes, the immune system and microbiota, cytogenetics and genomic medicine.
